In World War II, Nazi doctors experimented on many prisoners. The experiments were broken up into three different categories.
The first category was aimed for the survival of Axis military personnel. They used prisoners to see from how high a person could parachute from a plane. They also did experiments for hypothermia cures.
The second category was aimed for pharmaceuticals and treatment methods for injured soldiers. They were finding cures for different contagious diseases.
The third was for the spread of the Nazi world view. This included experiments on twins and Roma to see how different races withstood different diseases.
There are other experiments that were aimed for the advancement of racial goals. One was to find an inexpensive way to sterilize Jews, Roma, and other races that the Nazis saw a undesirable.

Don't Be Glassholes
As the lot of you may know, Google Glass is the new invention that will rock the market, but now it is only available to a certain number or people. Right now, Glass is out in the world. People, young and old, are using Glass, but some of them are “abusing” the power of the new glasses.
Google just released an article of the do’s and the don’ts of Glass. One of the don’ts said, “ Be creepy or rude (aka, a “Glasshole”)”(Google). It basically states that an Explorer, that’s what the Glass testers are called, should not be rude when they are confronted by others about Glass. Another thing that was stated was that Glass is basically a cell phone, so don’t get angry when you are asked to take them off.
I fully agree with the article. I know that some states have banned using Glass in the car. Glass is also banned at the movies. Both are for the best in opinion. Welch says that, “Clearly Google is mindful of the bans against its futuristic headset at some establishments”, and they should be. When making a new device, you don’t want the people “advertising” it to ruin the reputation of it before it even hits markets.
Honestly, I want Glass, but some of the restrictions on it makes most of the features useless. You can’t use the navigation feature in the car. You can’t use the camera in the hospital, if you had a baby or something. I think that people in high places are scared of technology. I see that as time goes on Glass may be accepted.
This connects to digital etiquette. One of the don’t said to not randomly record people. I see that as general and digital etiquette because you are using technology to be rude.
What is the purpose for using quotations?
Quotations are important to show that your evidence is factual. It actually is your evidence. When I put a quote that hasn’t been modified for libel, it makes the reader feel like they are hearing it out of the horses mouth. The author of this article uses a lot of quotes from Google. "’Standing alone in the corner of a room staring at people while recording them through Glass is not going to win you any friends,’ Google says.” is one of the many quotes that Welch uses in his article.

Green Bay Wins The Super Bowl...... Not Really
Guess what America! Green Bay Packers just won The Super Bowl! Not really. It was actually the Seattle Seahawks. It sort of felt like a win when Vince Lombardi, previous head coach for the Packers, handed the Championship trophy to the Seahawks.
It was an okay game between the Seahawks and Broncos. Actually, it was an amazingly boring game between the two teams because it was a blowout with the score forty-three to eight. The game, from the beginning, was said that it would be played between the number one offence of the Broncos, and the number one defence of the Seahawks.
The game started out with a safety from the Broncos. This gave Seattle two points before the game even really started. It took forever until Peyton Manning actually got to play.
This connects to my humanities class because a lot of people think that sports games don't tell a story or portray a message, but they actually do. This game gave the lesson that for a team to be great, it must have a good offence and a great defence.
I myself think that the game was boring. During the first quarter, I already saw that the game was going to the Seahawks. A lot of people blames the Broncos' loss on Manning, but is he really the one to blame?
I believe that both teams played their hardest. It was just that the Seahawks have a tough defence. I feel that the game was played out like I thought it would. I really love that Seattle won the game because it made me thirty dollars in bets. It's a small intake, but I'll take it any day.
How does the author support his claim? Use evidence from the selection to support your answer. The author is saying that the loss is on Peyton Manning. He uses evidence from the game and previous games that Manning choked in. They basically said that Manning couldn't handle big games. "[Manning] is 11-12 in the postseason, 1-2 in Super Bowls"
Picture is my own.

Foreign Games in China
For fourteen years China has had a ban on foreign video gaming consoles and games. This was because the games that were being played in the country were viewed as being corrupting to their youth. Last week, China lifted the ban. Now, foreign video games are legal.
This is big news for large companies such as Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. Chinese people can buy these games, but will they really break away from their normal. Console games were banned, but PC was always available. Anyone could, and still can, get an illegal download of a game off of the internet.
Will they be willing to pay for a legal game for an expensive console. The lot of gamers in China can't afford the major games that are being sold now. There are so many factors that work against the lifted ban that will make it unnoticed after a month or two. The lift could cut down the amount of piracy. It could also increase it with the pirates actually have a copy in their hands to pirate. The lift may even be temporary. It is big news for now, but will it stay.
I like the ban being lifted. I am totally for it, because it allows for a wider range of gamers online. With the video game industry growing, I understand why China wants a cut. It doesn't affect me now, but it really affects my future. I want a career in game design.
What is the central idea of the passage and how is it developed and refined throughout the selection? Use evidence from the selection to support your answer. The central idea of the passage is that the lift has it's ups, but it also has many downs. He starts off with the good things that the lift will bring. After that he goes into the, not really negatives, but the downsides. The author doesn't really end the story, but he ask if there is anything that needs to be added.

Dogs = Humans
Are dogs like humans? That is the same thing as asking is an apple like a head of cabbage. The answer to both are no. Humans are humans. Dogs are dogs, but that doesn't mean I don't see dogs as equal to me. Brains are specific to each species. People think that our brains are the same as monkeys, but there is a slight difference. There is a difference in everything, but it wasn't put here to be different.
Animals think different and act different. What a lot of people don't realize is that we are animals. In the end, animals are still living creatures just like us. Some might breathe different, but they are still breathing. We treat animals like we treated each other just one hundred years ago.
For an example, a lion is in its own place in Africa. Somebody takes the lion and puts it in a zoo in America. The lion escapes the zoo and is shot and killed. Doesn't that sound a lot like slavery, which we fought to abolish. We kill an animal for killing a human, which is meat, but we feed them, and they were meant to eat meat. We give people awards for killing the most fish or bringing in the largest deer. An animal's instinct to kill is like our instinct to kill.
"If we went a step further and granted dogs rights of personhood, they would be afforded additional protection against exploitation. Puppy mills, laboratory dogs and dog racing would be banned for violating the basic right of self-determination of a person." I totally agree with this statement. We should just let animals free and live how they were meant to. If an animal want to live with a human and the human is feeling the same way, let it be, but voluntary. Keeping a living this as property is wrong. They deserve rights.

SAT Essay
Any and everybody who is thinking about going to college should take the SAT first. Colleges look at these scores and see if the student is worthy of attending their school. The colleges may look at these scores, but are the scores correct?
"This essay, which was added to the SAT in 2005, counts for approximately 30 percent of a
test-taker’s score on the writing section." A computer grade this portion, so the company that makes the test hires people to grade the essay. The essay graders get bonuses if they can grade about thirty essays in an hour. That only gives two minutes to grade each essay. Reading, analyzing, and rating an essay has to take more than two minutes. If this is the time frame for one student's essay, than this two minutes can mean the world to the student. Looking over or misreading one part of the essay can be the difference between getting into a dream college or getting into a "plan B" college. For these people to grade an entire essay in two minutes is outrageous, so the student must use the time only on writing the essay an not trying to recall events for the essay.
The student only gets a certain amount of time for the essay. Many students waste time trying to recall events for the topic of the essay. The best way to go with the topic is to make things up. It takes more time to recall an entire event then it takes to make one up. Since time is crucial, it is best to make things up. Talk about a trip you never took or a thing you never bought. It's not lying. It's creative writing.
